God's love in action

Each weekday approximately 150 generous members of our community dedicate their time to deliver a nutritious, hot meal to approximately 1,500 of our frail and homebound neighbors throughout Spartanburg County. Mobile Meals is much more than a meal. We provide nourishment for the mind, body and soul. Mobile Meals delivers love, compassion and hope to those in need. Our ministry includes meal delivery, case management and a lay pastor.

We are a completely independent, privately funded 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization. We receive no government funding. We do partner with Meals on Wheels America and Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina (SHFBM). SHFBM partners and distributes food and essential grocery items to approximately 550 hunger feeding agencies in 19 counties in North and South Carolina. Agencies served include emergency pantries, soup kitchens, senior programs, shelters and low-income daycares.

Donor Bill of Rights

With the vision of the founding executive director, Jayne McQueen, along with the influence of First Presbyterian Church and the Spartanburg County Planning Commission, Mobile Meals of Spartanburg began on October 3, 1977, serving 25 meals with 15 volunteers. Today we serve nearly 2,000 residents with approximately 150 volunteers each weekday.

Mobile Meals is an independent 501-C3 non-profit organization which depends on contributions from businesses, churches, foundations, and individuals to meet an annual budget of approximately $2 million. Mobile Meals receives no government funding.

We are governed by a Board of Directors who has oversight responsibility for financial decisions regarding Mobile Meals. We are responsible stewards of our resources and operate with the highest level of accountability using an annual certified audit.

In 1985, President Ronald Reagan's Commission on Aging recognized Mobile Meals as a model program for the nation. In 1999, Senator Jim Demit presented Mobile Meals of Spartanburg the first Spirit of Freedom Award.
Mobile Meals glorifies God by providing nutritious meals, services, and fellowship to the frail and homebound citizens in Spartanburg County.
